COKE OVEN AND BY-PRODUCT RECOVERY PLANT

INTRODUCTION:

  Coke oven is an important department in an integrated steel plant. In this department coal is carbonized into coke, which is an essential raw material for the production of pig iron in blast furnaces. While carbonizing coal into coke a number of valuable by products are obtained. These are also recovered and processed  in this department.

Major sections of this department are:-

2.     Coal washery

3.     Coke oven battery & coke handling

 a)General condensation section

 b)Benzol plant

 c)Tar distillation & Napthalene plant

 d)Sulfuric acid plant

                         e)Bacteriological liquor treatment plant
